Power vs Force provides a skillful representation of our levels of consciousness. For readers of Learn to Subdue Your Passions the levels of Fear, Desire, Anger and Pride will be of particular interest. Each of these fall on the lower end of the spectrum of consciousness. Hawkins describes desire not so much as the healthy goal-setting we are accustomed to hearing, but more like addiction -- which we find in chapter one of Learn to Subdue Your Passions. He says fear is simply feeling unsafe in the world and is the perfect compliment for anger in an abusive relationship. Hawkins says anger revolves around frustrations regarding not being able to get what you desire. In my opinion, this book is a perfect companion to Learn to Subdue Your Passions: A Guide for Modern Living. Don't hesitate to pick it up and give it some real estate on your bookshelf.
